Greisen Medlock is proud to have represented LGBTQ+ people in some of the most important anti-discrimination cases in Colorado history. We are dedicated to fighting for the equality of the LGBTQ+ community, because no one should be discriminated against because of who they love.
Colorado law protects members of the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination in employment, public accommodations (such as restaurants, stores, and other businesses), and housing.
Paula Greisen represented a gay couple in a landmark lawsuit where they sued a baker who refused to bake them a wedding cake because the baker discriminated against the LGBTQ+ community. Paula Greisen fought this case all the way to the United States Supreme Court – where very few lawyers ever have a case heard.
Greisen Medlock currently represents a transgender woman against the same baker who refused to prepare a cake for her to celebrate her transition. After winning at trial, the Colorado Court of Appeals affirmed that the baker could not discriminate against transgender people.
The State of Colorado currently discriminates against transgender women imprisoned in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Greisen Medlock filed a class action lawsuit to make sure these transgender women are protected from sexual violence, receive appropriate health care, and have the opportunity to live their authentic lives.
If you have experienced discrimination because of your membership in the LGBTQ+ community, please contact us to see if Greisen Medlock can help you.
